Lisa Shannon, author and founder of “Run for Congo Women”

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is variously described as “the poorest country in the world”, “the densest concentration point of rape and other sexual violence in the world”, “the home of the world’s deadliest ongoing conflict”, and, sometimes, simply, “the worst place on earth…period”.

If the average person were asked to travel to the worst place on Earth, their answer would likely be a strongly-stated, two-word directive not used in polite company. So it is even more amazing that not only did Sunday’s guest make that journey….but she wasn’t even asked. She volunteered.

Ms. Lisa Shannon will join us on Sunday’s Outlook Portland, discussing her book, A Thousand Sisters: My Journey into the Worst Place on Earth to Be a Woman. It’s an astounding, unlikely story…made all the more so by dint of being completely true.

The show will also feature another “Outlook Portland Editorial Reply”, brought to you by our marquee sponsor, Things From Another World. This week’s guest editorialist: The Last Son of Krypton…Superman.

Outlook Portland, Sunday at 6:30am, only on NW32 TV…the home of Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, and Rick Emerson.

Next week: Melissa Delzio, the woman behind Our Portland Story.
