SEQUENTIAL ART GALLERY MARCH 2010: THE NEW VARSITY BY M. LAMKINS
OPENS: First Thursday, March 4, 2010; 6pm-10pm
CLOSES: Saturday, March 27, 2010; after 5pm
For the month of March, Sequential Art Gallery is pleased to present the work of M. Lamkins. “The New Varsity” is the story of the rise and fall of a small local music venue, told through show posters and written clues. From the grand opening in January to the final, tragic end in December, viewers can explore the timeline and follow the ups and downs, the fights and fumbles, and the mystery behind the closed doors of this fictional house of music. “The New Varsity” opens First Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 6-10pm.
M. Lamkins is a musician and artist based in Portland, Oregon. She retired from the world of employed software engineer to the exciting and lucrative life of the unemployed musician (and also learned to knit). When she is not adding to her vast useless knowledge of anglophile porn and science fiction trivia, she writes and performs music in Portland. She is also the co-host of the Someday:Incubator, a monthly curated performance showcase at Someday Lounge.
Sequential Art Gallery + Studio is located in Old Town Chinatown at the Everett Station Lofts, 328 NW Broadway #113. Open for regular gallery hours and gaming every Saturday (11am-5pm) or by appointment. The gallery showcases local artists who explore the concept of sequential art, which is loosely defined as using consecutive images to tell a story. Curated by Kaebel JK Hashitani and Merrick Monroe.
